Teen Counseling
Has your teen shut you out? Have anxiety and self-doubt replaced their confidence and contentment?
Perhaps they are struggling to communicate with their peers, teachers, or coaches?
Have they begun to stop listening to you and Are unwilling to take your feedback?
Does my child need counseling? How can I tell? How will it help?
At our Broomfield, CO and Denver, CO therapy practice, we aim to partner with you in offering support to your teenager. We help teach tools for anxiety and stress management. All while building self-esteem & self-confidence in the individuals we work with. Further, we can help hone in on ways to communicate and connect that work for your teen and the whole family.
Teens can have a variety of experiences during this life transition time. It can look different for everyone, but, here are some things we’ve found to be common concerns:
Self-doubt and concerns about self-image
Difficulty managing stress (Often leading to panic and anxiety attacks)
Struggles managing emotions
Difficulty with relationships (Friends, family, and peers)
Low self-esteem and lack of confidence
Perfectionism tendencies and negative self-talk
Confusion about who they want to be and the next steps after high school
Today’s Culture is different.
Since we cannot change it how can we adapt?
Social media and today’s comparison-obsessed world around Instagram and Tiktok can stress out even the most secure, confident, and successful teenager. Social platforms where we seek connection often contribute to feeling alone and isolated. Having a constant connection to their friends, parents, strangers, and teachers through technology is not going away. So, thinking through how to teach teens how to manage the digital world is now a part of the therapy discussion.
How Teen Counseling can help
Recognize Their Strengths:
We look at how your teen has been successful in managing stressful situations that were anxiety-provoking in their past. Then, we work to use healthy coping tactics and to lessen unhealthy coping strategies in future situations.
Encourage True Self-Reflection Envision How Things Can Be Different, and Challenge Automatic Negative Thinking:
We work towards helping teens check themselves without bias. This means recognizing what matters most to them as an individual. By doing so, they can learn to shift their thinking and behaviors to become their best selves.
Empower Them to Make Change:
Our team provides professional support, skills, and guidance strategies. We help teens make changes you and they can recognize. We aim to help teens achieve their goals while also being a work in progress at the same time. We provide a safe place to share their struggles as well as a place to focus on growth and successes.

Confidentiality with Your Teen in Therapy
In Colorado, minors aged 12 and up and in Florida the age of 13 and up, are considered adults when it comes to accessing mental health treatment. This means that your teen can decide if they want their parent(s) involved in their treatment or not. If they choose to involve their parent(s) an ROI can be signed by the client. Depending on your teen's wishes the therapist may share very little info with parents about their treatment. This law often has its pros and cons. But, if your teen is at risk of harming themselves or someone else the therapist will inform the parent(s). The therapist will take appropriate action to keep your child safe.
Our Approach to Teen Counseling
When working with teens, developing a strong therapeutic relationship in therapy is vital. It can help strengthen their ability to face things that can be nerve-racking and vulnerable. Therapy interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Person-Center Humanistic therapy are often used. At WellMinded Counseling, we work with clients to find a treatment plan that meets their needs. Along with encouraging clients to practice self-care while developing a healthy support system.
