Amber Cherrette, lpc

Works with Teens and Adults. Utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Client-centered therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to assess stress and anxiety.

From a young age, Amber Cherrette had always been interested in helping others. People’s behaviors and digging deeply into why individuals do what they do sparked Amber’s interested in mental health. After exploring mental health with her own therapist as a teenager, Amber knew that a career in counseling was the path she wanted to take.

Born in Denver and raised in Michigan, Amber migrated back to Denver where she attended CU Denver, specializing in clinical mental health counseling. While enrolled as a student, Amber gained additional counseling experience through a counseling center internship at CU Denver.

  • I was born in Colorado but grew up in a small town in Michigan, before moving back at 18. 

  • My guilty pleasure is watching reality TV. 

  • I enjoy gardening, hiking, and camping.

  • I aspire to one day have a healthy sourdough starter. 

Amber appreciates being able to work with teens and adults from all backgrounds. She enjoys working with individuals experiencing major life transitions, like college-aged adults, as everyone in that group experiences several life transitions. Having been through the transition of juggling college while determining her career route, Amber understands the anxiety and stress experienced among young adults and relates strongly to this age group.

Amber brings a warm, collaborative approach to counseling. She’s certified in EMDR and Perinatal Mental Health through PSI and pursuing her certification in perinatal mental health (PMH-C) and wants to eventually work in perinatal mental health by helping individuals who experience mood and anxiety disorders before and after childbirth.

When Amber isn’t working, you can find her hiking, camping, and gardening as she finds spending time in the outdoors grounding. Amber also enjoys traveling and feels it’s important for her to explore cultures and other parts of the world.

  • Working with those who have experienced trauma, are currently experiencing anxiety, or life transitions. Working with teens with stress, anxiety, and identity concerns. Working with individuals on setting boundaries and increasing value-based living.

  • Trauma, working with new parents, and infant mental health.

  • Trained in EMDR, and utilize CBT along with aspects of other modalities with a humanistic focus. Currently pursuing PMH-C training to work with the perinatal population.
