Sometimes we know we want something to change, but figuring out where to start can feel like the hardest part. We might recognize that we’re capable of more, want to feel more confident, or simply hope to approach life a little differently, but getting there takes time, support, and a willingness to try. For Noah Curd, Counseling Intern, therapy is about helping people recognize their strengths, work through the things that may be holding them back, and discover what they’re capable of. Through insight, action, and a little vulnerability, he believes we can move toward a life that feels more meaningful and abundant.

A Space Where You Can Be Completely Yourself

One of Noah’s biggest priorities is making sure clients feel comfortable enough to bring their whole selves into the counseling room.

He recognizes that opening up about personal experiences, emotions, and challenges isn’t always easy. Sometimes, we worry about being misunderstood, judged, or not knowing how to put what we’re feeling into words. Noah wants clients to know that they don’t have to filter themselves or have everything figured out before coming into a session. His goal is to create a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where everyone feels seen, heard, respected, and accepted.

For Noah, this kind of safety is especially important because a counseling office may be the only place someone feels they can truly let their guard down. Having somewhere to be honest, explore difficult experiences, and feel supported without judgment can make a meaningful difference. He hopes to provide that space for every person he works with, meeting clients where they are and allowing them the freedom to show up as themselves.

Growth Happens Outside of Our Comfort Zones

Noah believes some of the most meaningful moments of growth happen when we’re willing to sit with discomfort and challenge ourselves to go a little further than we thought possible.

Vulnerability can feel uncomfortable. Trying something new, changing familiar patterns, or allowing ourselves to be seen in ways we’re not used to can bring up a lot of uncertainty. It’s often easier to stay within what we already know, even when we recognize that something different might be better for us. But Noah believes those uncomfortable moments can also show us just how capable we really are.

With his background in coaching, Noah enjoys helping people recognize their potential and work toward goals that once may have felt out of reach. He believes everyone has unique strengths, and part of the process is learning how to recognize those strengths and use them to navigate challenges. Sometimes, it’s not about making a huge change overnight. It’s about taking one small step, building confidence along the way, and realizing that we’re capable of more than we initially believed.

Growth doesn’t always feel comfortable while it’s happening, but that doesn’t mean we’re not moving forward.

Finding Your Strengths and Creating New Possibilities

For Noah, counseling isn’t just about working through what’s difficult. It’s also about helping people recognize what is already within them.

As someone who enjoys coaching and supporting others in reaching their full potential, Noah brings that same perspective into his work as a counselor. He believes each person has their own strengths, experiences, and abilities that can serve as a foundation for growth. Sometimes, life experiences or difficult circumstances can make it harder to recognize those qualities in ourselves. We may become so focused on what isn’t working that we lose sight of what we are already doing well.

Noah hopes to help clients shift some of that perspective. Through developing greater self-awareness and building practical tools, clients can begin to approach obstacles differently, gain confidence in their abilities, and take meaningful steps toward their goals. He views the skills developed through counseling as lifelong tools that can carry into relationships, work, and so many other areas of everyday life.

His belief is that through insight and action, we can begin creating the kind of life we want rather than feeling like we’re simply reacting to everything happening around us.

Why Noah Chose This Work

Noah’s path toward becoming a therapist was influenced in part by his own experience with counseling, as well as his growing appreciation for the role personal growth plays throughout our lives.

Through his experiences, he developed a deeper understanding of how valuable it can be to have someone who provides a safe space to talk, explore, and work through challenges. He also recognized how much he values helping others grow, not just in the areas they’re currently struggling with, but in ways that can positively influence the rest of their lives.

Currently pursuing dual graduate degrees in school counseling and clinical counseling, Noah is passionate about supporting both teens and adults as they navigate different stages of life. He enjoys helping people discover their strengths, develop confidence, and build the skills they need to move through challenges with greater understanding and intention.

One of the things that motivates him most is knowing that even the smallest step he helps a client take can make a difference. Progress might happen during a session, over several months, or even years down the road. Regardless of when it happens, knowing he had the opportunity to be part of someone’s growth is what keeps him motivated in this work.

At the heart of his approach is a desire to walk alongside clients with grace, authenticity, truth, and curiosity, recognizing that everyone’s path toward growth looks a little different.

Making Room for Life Outside the Counseling Room

Noah also recognizes the importance of having healthy ways to work through emotions and make space for himself outside of work.

For him, some of his favorite ways to decompress involve getting into the gym, lifting heavy, and going for a hard run. Physical activity gives him an opportunity to release stress, clear his head, and reconnect with himself. He also finds a lot of comfort in music, especially finding songs that seem to connect with whatever he’s feeling in the moment. Sometimes, having a song that puts words to an emotion can be its own kind of release.

These outlets are a reminder that taking care of ourselves doesn’t always have to look the same. Finding activities that allow us to move, process, recharge, or simply enjoy the moment can be an important part of maintaining balance in our everyday lives.

Getting to Know Noah

If you didn’t already know, Noah’s background in coaching extends beyond his work with people in the counseling room. One of his favorite activities is coaching tennis!

His enjoyment of coaching reflects something that carries throughout his approach to counseling: he loves seeing people grow, recognize their potential, and accomplish things they may not have initially thought possible. Whether he’s coaching on the tennis court or supporting someone through a personal challenge, he enjoys being part of the process that helps people build confidence in themselves.

As a graduate student pursuing both school and clinical counseling, Noah is especially excited about the opportunity to work with people through different stages of life. His passion for personal development, combined with his interest in helping others reach their goals, continues to shape the kind of counselor he hopes to become.

You Don’t Have to Know What You’re Capable of Yet

If you’re considering starting therapy, Noah wants you to know that you don’t have to come in with a clear plan or know exactly what you want to accomplish.

You can start wherever you are. Maybe you have a specific challenge you’re hoping to work through, or maybe you just know that something feels like it could be different. You might be looking to build confidence, better understand yourself, or find new ways to approach the things that have been weighing on you. All of those are meaningful places to begin.

Therapy can offer an opportunity to slow down, recognize your strengths, explore what’s getting in your way, and begin taking steps toward something different. Noah hopes to make that process feel supportive and collaborative, giving clients the space to be vulnerable while also encouraging them to recognize their own capabilities.

You don’t have to have everything figured out to start growing. Sometimes, all it takes is a little insight, a willingness to take that first step, and the right support along the way.
